Since we have already discussed our favorite romantic literary couples, now it's time to share our favorite friends of fiction.
I couldn't pinpoint my absolute favorite friendship but I can share a few that really stuck with me.
Liesel & Max
“Often I wish this would all be over, Liesel, but then somehow you do something like walk down the basement steps with a snowman in your hands.”
Liesel & Rudy
“Insane or not, Rudy was always destined to be Liesel's best friend.
A snowball in the face is surely the perfect beginning to a lasting friendship.”
Mariam & Laila
“I will follow you to the ends of the world.”
Skeeter & Aibileen
“We are just two people. Not that much separates us. Not nearly as much as I'd thought.”
I can't wait to see what you all have!

Great picks! I definitely agree with Rudy and Liesel for the same reasons I picked Jess and Leslie — even though Rudy wanted it to be romantic haha. Also, Liesel and Max is PERFECT. That's probably my favorite one you have on here. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of great fictional friendships I always think of Victoria and Caitlin in Judy Blume's Summer Sisters. It's not a perfect one, but a very real story of how sometimes two girls who may not necessarily be compatible get entertwined for life. My best friend and I are completely different people, but we stay in touch and always circle back to each other. When people ask me why we are friends it always reminds me of Summer Sisters - "she gets it." Such a great prompt - hate that I did not have time this week to actually flesh it out into a post! I love books on tape and need some good suggestions for an upcoming trip so I am looking forward to next week!
ReplyDeleteI just re-watched Of Mice and Men recently and I really George and Lenny. I like when I see/read relationships that are so inconditional.
ReplyDeleteI MUST READ THE BOOK THEIF IMMEDIATELY.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the library today so I'll try to get it even though the library never has any of the books I'm looking for.
I'm glad I suggested this prompt and that you liked it! I'm actually legitimately sad about my realization regarding my favorite friendships and their impermanence. Dammit authors...making me feel feelings...and stuff.
CURSES! How could I forget Book Thief and The Help?! Those are some favorites of mine too. Great post, and yay for next week! :)
