Even the best suffer from the blogging blues every once in a while.  It doesn't matter how many ideas you have written down or half-written posts you have saved.  Sometimes the inspiration well has run dry and the words just will not come.  For me, this usually occurs when the weather is gloomy for more than a day or after a major holiday or event.  January? Forget it.

I'm sure we all have our own remedies to the ailment I like to call "the blogging blues" (or "writer's block"), but I hate to see bloggers disappear for too long because of it, so I have compiled a list of five easy tips to help get the creativity train moving again.

Whether you are a creative blogger, a mommy blogger or a food blogger, taking a class in whatever field suits you can help to recharge your inspiration cells.  Even an online class can help.  Surround yourself with like-minded folks and work up an appetite for new projects.
Added bonus: you could always blog about the class itself.

I recommend AltSummit classes.  I recently took one online and it was so helpful! (and affordable)

Banging your head against the keyboard isn't going to help your situation any.  You can't force creativity, so let it go until later.  Sure, you can go veg out on the couch but then you are just depriving yourself of some much needed fresh air and vitamin D.
Don't think about the blog while you're out.  Just relax and enjoy the day.

You may not even know that you have potential for an entire post just sitting in iPhoto waiting to be written.  Last week, I was able to produce a whole post of funny Jude pictures.  The idea for the post (which has turned out to be one of my favorites) came to me when I was looking through my photo roll and noticed a trend.
Can't find anything?  Then go take more photos.

If you are struggling with your own blog, the worse thing you can do is walk away from all blogs.  There's not a blogger out there that can say they don't owe their success to other bloggers.  That's not to say that you are copying or re-blogging something in your own words (don't do that), but a lot of times there are trends among the blog-iverse that can be very inspirational.  Pinterest alone can help spark a fire.
“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.”
-Stephen King

I once saw Aaron Sorkin in an interview say that he takes up to like 10 showers a day because they help clear his mind when he reaches a wall in his writing.  I've also said that someone should invent some mind-recorder that writes down the blog posts I write in my head while I'm taking a shower, or doing laundry, or driving.  The point is, it's at those times when we're NOT trying that posts tend to write themselves.
But also, I find that really putting myself together helps me to feel ready to accomplish something.  So, no, I'm not implying that anyone writes their blog in the nude, but by getting really dressed, instead of staying in your PJ's, your odds are better of breaking out of your funk.  Even if you don't have plans to go anywhere, put on an outfit that makes you feel the best about yourself.  From your makeup all the way down to your shoes.

I hope these ideas help someone out there.  I know they certainly help me when I'm not at my best.

Do you ever get the blogging blues?  What helps you?
