Writing
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) starts in 11 days and I am so geared up this year. I have all of the outline, character sketch, writing schedule business out of the way, so bring on the madness! The goal for NaNo is 50k words, but I'm getting a 10k head start because I plan on this one being around 65k-ish. All I can say about the project now is that it is YA. It was a tough decision to make, and I really thought it through for a while. I originally pinned this one for Mainstream, but decided that it would really shine in YA. I think this story has the heart that young adults will love.
Right now, the goal is to have it written in November, then revising and editing until January so it will be ready for submission in March. Is it March yet?
Much, much more to come on the NaNo experience in these next few weeks.
Are you doing NaNoWriMo??
Health
Have I ever once talked about health or exercise on my blog? Uh...no. But I have sort of fallen in love with my gym routine and it has just made every little aspect of my life better. I started taking a spin class (so fun, crazy, right?) and I joined a weight loss group and [brace yourselves] I started running. I have always been that "heaving after 1 minute of running" girl. It was just not ever a thing I could do. Not ever. But I joined a group. And I use the Couch to 5K app and get this...I can run for 8 minutes without dying. Without dying! It's a miracle. The kicker is that I hurt my ankle pretty bad and I'm off the treadmill for about a week. Still, I go to the gym every day and I get to see the same people and socialize with all of the super great ladies here and [even with a bum ankle] life is good.
Germany
Life in Germany is looking up. I feel like we are sorta-kinda getting settled. We have made the decision to search for a better space for us. We love our quaint little apartment, and we were really psyched about living it up European-style, but in all practicality, it's not practical. When I have to climb 30 steps to take the dog out and I have to put pants on to change the laundry, life is not convenient for Jessica. It probably won't happen until early next year, but we are keeping our eyes peeled for now.
School
School is going well. I only have three terms left and that sounds insane to say out loud. It's basically the reason I don't get to blog as much as I used to.
So, that's about all of the good stuff I can think of to share. What's new in your life?!

I am doing NaNoWriMo as well! It's crazy, I am in the middle of editing my first novel, but I have an idea rolling around in my head for my 2nd book, so I just said what the hell, why not. Good luck with everything! I admire your preparedness- I usually just start writing and go! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat recap! I love hearing what's going on in your life. :) So excited for your novel, first of all. Best of luck!! You sound very prepared, which is awesome. Also, good luck on finding somewhere to live where you can change your laundry pantsless. (I definitely understand this sentiment.) Beautiful pictures, as always!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you that you are finally starting to feel settled in. I know how hard it is! How long are you staying in Germany?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, would you like to have a banner on my sidebar? Email me if so!
Happy Sunday, sweet friend! xxx
This is the first year in some time that I won't be doing NaNoWriMo. It'll just be too difficult seeing as November we'll be on the road a lot, living in other people's homes and such. Good luck to you this year!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are getting settled in Germany! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing NaNo! I actually just purchased Rock Your Plot (by your rec!) and really enjoying working through it to create a solid plot. I have an idea of the story, but want to make it more concrete and stronger.
ReplyDeleteYay for feeling more settled and happier in Germany. That's so good to hear. :)
LIVE IT UP!!! I'm PCSing back state-side and I cannot, CANNOT believe my time here is up. It goes REALLY fast!!!
