As I'm sure many of you do, I love music. I especially love finding new musicians and new sounds. I mean, I like Katy Perry as much as the next gal, but I love having something original and unique coming through my iPod. I'm usually that person pressuring my friends to listen to this band or that. Likewise, I love to hear what everyone else is listening to. When you're not getting your music from the radio, sometimes you have to dig deep to find the real gems.
So this week my most played album has been Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons.
"Weep for yourself, my man,
You'll never be what is in your heart
Weep Little Lion Man,
You're not as brave as you were at the start"
Ok, so apparently, I'm the last person on earth to jump on this bandwagon. Becky...yes, Raw Potatoes, has been telling me for too long to download this album. But I'm a big stubborn ass (no, really I'm a Taurus...or at least I used to be). When I finally downloaded it & said "Becky, this is awesome!" She just rolled her eyes at me. Ok, I deserved that. So, thank you Becky!
They have that raw, organic sound that I love. I feel like this is one of those bands that is meant be heard live and the recorded version just doesn't do them justice. Hopefully one day I'll have that opportunity. Of course, my favorite song is "Little Lion Man". Becky & I agreed that we like this song because it's about a man who confesses that he screwed up. That never gets old.
So, let me open it up to you guys. What's been haunting your playlist excessively this week? Is there a band, singer or song that you just can't get enough of? Old, new, bizarre or mainstream, I want to hear.

I love Mumford & Sons as well. Try Fleet Foxes and Old Crow Medicine Show if you want to find some more folksy bands to listen to!
ReplyDeleteah, you just made my morning! Confession: I kinda almost felt like I needed your seal of approval. You have great taste in music & have turned me on to so many great bands, so I am honored to have lured you to them :)
ReplyDeleteThis week, I've been listening to a lot of Florence + the Machines.
@Jessica - I'll look them up. I love the folk sound. It's pretty much the only genre my husband & I can agree on.
ReplyDelete@Becky - That was sweet :) You have a great taste in music. As long as you like it that's all that matters. <3 Florence. Cosmic Love is my fave.
Ooo I love Fleet Foxes too!
