I recently stumbled across this 20 Wishes post from Truly Lovely inspiring their readers to create a list of 20 things they want to do in the next twelve months. I love this idea. I love that it's not about things you should do or things that need to get done.
The way I see it, if I could create a blueprint for this next year made of only the things I want to do, this is what it would look like...
1. Meet a blog friend.
2. Attend a book conference.
3. Finish writing a novel.
4. Take the kids to Disney World
5. Finish my bachelor's degree.
6. Get a new tattoo
7. Keep blogging throughout the year
8. See Mumford & Sons in concert
9. Host another book swap
10. Attend a blog conference
11. Read 40 books (ten more than this year)
12. Go on a trip alone with Jeremy
13. Ride my bike more
14. Keep in touch with my brother & sister
15. Learn to play the guitar (seriously so sad how long this has been on my list)
16. Sew a quilt for Jonathan
17. Move to our next duty station and into our new home
18. Join the PTA and volunteer at Jonathan's school
19. Cut my hair short.
20. Celebrate turning 30! (And no crying about it)
Fun year, right?
If you make a list too, I'd love to see it.

Good list! #12 is super important! lol Last year we escaped to Vegas without Noah for a few days. We NEEDED that! As we were contemplating whether or not to go I realized that we had not been on a trip alone since Noah was born. That sealed the deal for us lol It was time!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fab idea! I totally think I'm gonna do this :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Messy
I love your list! I should work on one. I feel like Ive spent this year in Korea thinking about all the things I wish we would have done but didn't make it to. 'There's always next year...'
ReplyDeleteI actually love this. So many goals on here that would make it on my list too.
ReplyDeletePS NO CRYING ON BIRTHDAYS THOSE ARE FOR FUN AND CELEBRATION OKAY? OKAY. You should just take a nice little trip out to Montreal so I can take you out for your b-day :D
Good list! We should knock 1 & 8, eh?
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! I had #3, 7 and 11 (or very similar goals) on my unofficial 2012 resolutions list. I usually don't make New Year's Resolutions, but I like the way you called these "dreams." I just might have to create my own list before the year is up!
ReplyDeleteGood luck reaching your dreams. :)
Great list! I love reading things like this. and making lists of my own!
ReplyDeleteYou actually have some of the same goals on your list that I've mentally stapled to mine! Mumford & Sons is coming to the east coat in February, and I would LOVE to see them in concert. The closest they get to where I live (South Carolina) is Virginia, though. But, that's okay, I'm totally willing to drive that distance for them. I'm also planning on meeting a blog friend and attending a blogging conference next year, but those are still tentative as the conference dates have not been set yet, but the one I want to go to will be close to where I live, so it would be a totally doable trip. I'm excited! :) I also want to finish writing my book and go back to school to receive my Master's in literature. That all depends on funding, though. But, I have my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteAnd, please, don't cry on your birthday! Maybe I'm just being a stupid 22 year-old, but 30 sounds like such a great age. I've heard a lot of people in their 30s talk about how they feel most established in that decade, all the feelings aren't as crazy, they know who they are and aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Maybe you are already all of these things, so you only have more awesomeness to look forward to! :D
haha Love this comment! I like your idea of 30 being more established. I certainly feel like I SHOULD be a grown-up at this point, but I still don't feel like a grown up. LOL
