This post was inspired by one of Megan's recent posts. I kind of love seeing what is inside everyone's handbags. Is that weird? Anyway, seeing Megan's bag made me realize that my purse is a shameful, sloppy abyss of crumpled receipts and fruit snacks. It made me really wish I had a nice handbag to be proud of. Instead mine is something I throw over my shoulder in a rush and pray that there's an extra diaper in it.
I've never been much an "arm candy" kind of girl. I could never justify spending $500 on something that holds sunglasses and keys. For a purse, I have seen people throwing down cash that would easily buy a new camera lens or a top brand bike. On a family budget, an expensive purse is in the $60 range and that thing better last a year.
Lately, I've been thinking that it's about time that I carry around a nice purse. Nothing too fancy or expensive. Something functional and stylish. Something that says something about who I am and will match most of my every day looks. It only needs to big enough to hold a few diapers, a wallet and a book.
A few of the bags I found...
#2 and #3 are my favorite. Believe it or not, #3 is from Anthropologie and only $98. I want.
What kind of purse do you carry? Is it more for function or fashion?

DUDE. #3.
ReplyDeleteI don't carry a purse but I also vote for #3 with #2 coming in 2nd!
ReplyDelete#3 love it! I'm a cross body bag kind of gal. End I never spend more than $50/60 on A.D. purse either.
ReplyDeleteI just like my purse to look nice and have lots of pockets lol. I've never spent over $40 for a purse. I'm that way with everything I buy. I really hate spending a lot of money on something. Last Christmas I was working for my favorite boss of all time. She was a Realtor and I was her assistant. We were really more like buddies lol So come Christmas she hands me a bag. Inside the bag is a coach box. My heart was racing and my mind was going a million miles a minute. Oh crap this is a Coach box! Is there something Coach in here or is this a joke? Inside was a beautiful black and grey purse with gorgeous purple lining on the inside. It was glorious. I absolutely loved it. I take great care of it because I know I will never have the heart to splurge and buy myself one. She did a great job. The purse "fits" me. I have plenty of room and pockets for everything and the style just fits my personality. I kept the box and the bag it came in lol. I've never owned something so nice before. I just cant make myself spend the money. I think about it but then I start thinking of all the other things that money could buy.
ReplyDeleteI like purse #3!
Number 1 is definitely how I would roll. I'm a big fan of grey (it looks so good with bright colors!) and the style is just me. Also that watch is awesome. Gimme!

The watch stood out. I want it.
ReplyDeleteI always do the "I need a smaller purse" when I'm carrying a big bag and then "I need a bigger purse" when I'm carrying a small one.
Thanks for the shout-out! :) I get compliments on the orange color of my purse all the time, but the reason I actually picked it was because it has a little lion decal on it. My sorority's mascot is a lion, but it's really hard to find cute lion things, so I always snap them up when I find them! Good luck on your search! I would recommend something with wide straps so it doesn't dig into your shoulder. I have that problem sometimes with my bag.
ReplyDeleteI love number 5! Currently I am using an Arden B grey studded bag that I got for $12 at Buffalo Exchange. I get so many compliments on it! And last week I scored a pair of $400 black leather boots for $60.00 and they were more or less brand new. The bag was brand new.
