I love Amelia Bedelia! I would have totally forgotten about her. One of my favorites that I can remember:
ReplyDelete"Amelia, bear left!"
(Amelia turns right.)
"Amelia, I said left!"
"You said there was a bear to the left. I didn't want to go left."
"No, BEAR left!"
"Oh, the bear left? Why didn't you say so?"
Or something like that. ;)
I used to read Ella Enchanted about 5 times a year, I loved it that much. I actually re-read it a couple years ago and it was just like I remembered! I can't wait to read it to my daughter.
ReplyDeletemy daughter has read matilda and little women and of course ameila bedelia! she's read some of the american girl books and I remember reading them too. I love that she reads books that were around when I was a kid too.
ReplyDeleteI have not read Matilda but I have seen the movie (I know, shame on me =_=). Amelia Bedelia<3
ReplyDeleteI loved the American Girl Series! The librarian at my school loved them too and we had almost every one of the series on the shelves. My favorite girls were Kirsten and Samantha, I even had the dolls at one time. I love this topic :)
ReplyDeleteI loved American Girl doll books! Kirsten was the doll I had :)
ReplyDeleteGood taste from a young age, Jessica! I confess I have not yet read Matilda, but I recently bought it. It's one Dahl book I completely missed out on but if/when the musical comes to Los Angeles, I must be prepared. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember being in love with The Secret Garden...I think it was the first "real" chapter book I read! Love your firsts, though - can't wait to introduce good ones to my daughter!
